Located on the south coast of Gran Canaria, Puerto Rico is a lively holiday resort popular with families. It boasts a sub-tropical climate with pleasantly warm temperatures and plenty of sunshine throughout the year. Puerto Rico experiences very little rain at all, but a few drops at the beginning and end of the year are common.
January is one of the coolest times to visit the holiday resort. During your stay, you can expect to see temperatures reach a pleasant 20°C during the hottest part of the day, dropping to a mild 14°C in the evening. The nights can get a little chilly if there is a breeze in the air, so pack accordingly.
You can expect plenty of sunshine during your stay; up to 9 hours a day. The sea water temperature is a pleasant 19°C. Expected rainfall is 17mm over 5 days.

New Year’s Day (Día de Año Nuevo) is celebrated across Puerto Rico with colourful celebrations and spectacular fireworks displays.
Three King’s Day (Día de Reys) is an official holiday, as well as a religious holiday in Puerto Rico. In celebration of the Three Wise Men's visit to see the newborn Christ people exchange gifts. Traditionally, children also stack bundles of hay in boxes under their beds for each Wisemen's camel in the hope of finding the boxes exchanged for gifts.

Just a stone’s throw away from many self-catering apartments and all-inclusive hotels in Puerto Rico, Europa Centre is a popular place to hang out. Although not as big as the Centro Comercial Puerto Rico, the Europa Centre offers several cafes and restaurants which offer a selection of local cuisine, as well as international food. On top of the eateries, you’ll also find plenty of bars and clubs if you just want to enjoy a drink. Not only a place to wine and dine, the Europa Centre is also where you’ll find a great variety of shops selling all sorts of things, including fresh produce, souvenirs, clothes and duty-free items.

When it comes to unbeatable steakhouses in Gran Canaria, Steakhouse Grano de Oro is somewhere near the top of the list. Found in the Centro Comercial Puerto Rico, this restaurant is staffed by friendly and helpful servers who will go out of their way to make sure you have an amazing evening out. A fantastic choice for any carnivore, Steakhouse Grano de Oro serves a selection of steaks, ribs and chops which are sure to bring a smile to your face. If you’ve got a large appetite, opt for one of the affordable set menus which come with a starter, main and dessert.
Found on the main square of the Puerto Rico Shopping Centre, Donald Bar is one of the best places in the resort for karaoke. Here singers can choose from thousands of regularly-updated songs and take advantage of state-of-the-art sound and video technology. DJ Steve is at the decks throughout the evening, playing a variety of classic songs and the latest tunes to keep the party going.

Hotel Terraza Amadores offers spacious and comfortable accommodation with fully-equipped kitchenettes for very low rates. This hotel is only a short walk from the beach and the centre of the resort and offers a swimming pool with pool bar, children’s pool and weekly BBQ.
