Puerto de Pollensa is a beach resort that sits against the backdrop of the Tramuntana mountain range to the North of Majorca.
January brings light showers, and low temperatures of about 10°C to Puerto de Pollensa. As such, hitting the beach isn’t quite the thing to do. Nonetheless, the resort offers a wide range of indoor activities.
Puerto de Pollensa in January is a great destination for shoppers. The resort has markets and stalls, designer stores and shopping malls offering everything from brand name goods to locally crafted produce.
While it is still too cool for the beach and many water sports, sailing is an activity that can be enjoyed throughout the year and is a great way to explore the coastline. Nautinort is one of the biggest yacht charter companies in the area and offer cruises around the bay that will allow you to relax and enjoy the view.
Most visitors to Puerto de Pollensa choose to participate in the annual celebration of Sant Antoni – the Patron Saint of animals, which runs from the 10th to 17th of January.
The Fiesta of Sant Sebastia is held two days later and locals and tourists alike adorn traditional regalia, and dance to Majorcan folk songs.
There are several museums to visit around the resort including the Pollensa Municipal Museum. It’s an ideal place to spend a few hours and learn about the history of the area.
