Weather Overview for Palma Nova
Palma Nova enjoys a dry Mediterranean climate. Long hot
summers and mild winters are complemented by low levels of rainfall. The resort
sits on a on the golden south coast of Mallorca of
Summer in Palma Nova, from June till September, is beautifully hot with the average high temperature peaking at 30°C in August. The sun shines uninterrupted by cloud and the high temperatures linger into the night; perfect for typically late Mediterranean outdoor dining, but sometimes a little uncomfortable for sleeping. The island has a localised wind system called the Embat which means a cooling breeze helps to keep conditions pleasant during the day. Easing the temperature at all times is the low humidity.
Autumn, in October and November, is the wettest season though still very little rain falls. Short showers followed by clear skies are the norm. The cooler low 20s and thinner crowds might be considered preferable, though by mid November the water temperature can get a little brisk, seeing an average of 17°C.
Winter, from December to February, is very mild but visitors should not pack their bikinis and expect to return home with a suntan. The average high is around 13°C and the average low is around 5°C. While there are usually a few freak days that see the temperature shooting up into the high teens, there is also the possibility of it being much cooler. It rarely gets down to freezing but frosts have been known to happen. Cloud cover is indecisive and the sun comes out for around five hours per day. Rainfall lessens, not that it ever gets particularly high, but it is a little unpredictable.
Spring, from March till May, gets gradually warmer and sunnier. Night times remain quite cold as does the sea. There are usually a few days each month that peak in the low 20s, but by mid May low 20s temperatures are guaranteed. Late spring is a great time to visit the area, similar to early autumn. Spring is drier than autumn but the sea in spring is cooler.
