Palma (Palma de Mallorca) is the major city and main port on the island of Majorca, in the archipelago of the Balearic Islands. It lies on the south coast of Majorca and is home to fantastic beaches, a vibrant nightlife and a glorious typical Mediterranean climate of hot dry summers and mild winters.

Palma has an ideal climate which contributes to it being such a perfect holiday destination. The weather remains pleasant all year round, with the temperature rarely falling below 10 degrees in the winter and maintaining an average high of 30 degrees through the summer time.

The city receives little rain all year round and will generally be fine and dry across the seasons, however October sees the greatest average rainfall. From November to April you may need a light jacket if outside in the evenings as temperatures can fall to about 10 degrees. November has an average daily temperature of 13 degrees, before falling to 10 degrees in December and further cooling to 9 degrees in January and February.

In Palma the waterfront is the place to be seen and the water temperature in the region stays relatively warm year round. Averaging 18 degrees in May and moving up to a bath like 26C in August this provides for an excellent setting to take part in various water sports and diving.

From May through to October the city is basked in daily sunshine, and average temperatures hover in the 30C’s. You may be met with the occasional summer thunderstorm- these however are short lived and can actually prove welcome as a cooling break from the summer heat. June sees average daily temperatures of 22 degrees with July and August averaging 24 and 25 degrees respectively. August can see the average maximum temperature rising to 29 degrees so sunscreen is a necessity when lying on the beach but temperature is not too extreme to provide discomfort.

The island is a lively party destination which is a climatically excellent year round destination. In summer the evenings are cooled by the fresh Mediterranean sea breezes which are a welcome break from the heat of the clubs! The rich mix of culture and nightlife capped of with a perfect Mediterranean climate make Palma, and the island as a whole, a great holiday destination.
