With recognition to its Mediterranean locality, Palermo is blessed with a mild coastal climate all year round with placid, wet winters and hot, dry summers. This indicates that throughout the peak of summer, Palermo take pleasures in mainly hot and clammy weather and its winter months are relatively serene experiencing very little rainfall. The mountainous centre, just inland from Palermo generally has much cooler temperatures with snowfall throughout winter, whereas alongside the coastal areas winter temperatures can still reach highs of up to 15°C.

Spring

The average temperature in Palermo infrequently falls beneath 10°C, creating an enjoyable holiday destination at any time of the year. July and August are commonly known as very hot and very dry, so visitors planning vacations throughout the peak months should always be prepared for sun, sun and more sun. It is always a good thought to plan holidays outside of the summer, possibly from May to June when spring temperatures range between 12°C to 18°C and the climate is temperate and warm enough for peaceful days on the beach front, but will still leave you with plenty of energy to discover the sights of this beautiful region. Early autumn is also often considered to be an ideal time to visit Palermo. During September and October it's still warm enough to enjoy spending time outdoors, but not too hot to spend time sightseeing in the old city of Palermo.

Summer

The summer season is at times quite extensive, with the months between July and August tending to experience both the hottest and dehydrated climate. Average temperatures in the peak of summer will linger at 26°C but are known to hit highs of above 32°C. Sea temperatures during the summer are mild and pleasant averaging around 25°C throughout the hottest months. If you're a tourist arranging to do a large number of sightseeing in Palermo, rather than lounging on the beach, it's definitely worth avoiding the peak season if you can visit at another time of year.

Autumn

Autumn tends to be the wettest time of the year with November seeing the town’s highest precipitation rate, yet even throughout this month, rainfall is still relatively low. It has to be said that, even then, in comparison to other parts of Europe, Palermo doesn't experience much rainfall at all. Nevertheless, autumn months can still expect mild temperatures and plenty of sunny weather, if not essentially assured. Average temperatures throughout the months of October to mid December range from 11°C to 17°C.

Winter

The winter months in Palermo provide a comparatively gentle climate and are fairly short, lasting only between the near end of December to February. During this period, temperatures often don't fall below 11°C and on some days can rise up to 15°C. Frosts are almost unheard of in Palermo creating an enjoyable place to escape cold winter weather in other parts of Italy and northern Europe.

With the warm Mediterranean weather in this region of Sicily being the livelihood of the island, its traditions and its manufacture; combined with liberal winter rainfall and pleasant spring climates ensure an enjoyable Italian vacation at almost any time of the year.
