Obzor, a small town and a beautiful seaside resort located on the Black
Sea Coast of Bulgaria. Obzor town is
relatively small with a population of around 2500 inhabitants and is located 65
km south of Varna
and 73 km north of Burgas. Obzor is situated in the skirts of the eastern part
of the Stara Planina
Mountain where the mountain ridge
rises to the west of the city; to the north is the Dvoynitsa River.
Obzor’s beach, which is known as one of the longest beaches in Bulgaria at 8km, extends from St. Atanas in the
north all the way to Mona
in the south. Although Obzor is a small town with a modest population, during
its peak holiday season it becomes a popular holiday destination.
Obzor beach is considered
to be one of the safest and most attractive beaches in Bulgaria. As
well as crystal clear waters and golden sand, the beach has a walkway lined with
lively cafes and bars. Hotels in Obzor range from large luxurious resorts to
small family hotels. There are also campsites between the towns of Byala and
Obzor. Being one of the most ancient settlements in Bulgaria, Obzor is steeped in rich
history and is home to some striking Roman and Greek architecture.

As Bulgaria is located
in the southeast of Europe, Obzor enjoys an enviable Mediterranean climate that is both temperate and pleasant year-round. The climate of
Obzor is warm and temperate with hot summers and little rainfall in all
months. During summer, Obzor gets an average temperature of 26 ˚C and
approximately 31 ˚C. While the winter season gets an approximate temperature of
5˚C. During spring and autumn the temperature can get somewhere amid 20 ˚C and
Summers in Obzor are usually hot and dry and temperatures can soar to
30˚C. The average temperature in July is around 27˚C, while the average low is 18
˚C. Visitors can expect 6 – 10 hours of sunshine a day during the summer months. The average quantity
of precipitation level is around 39 mm, while the humidity level is around 69
percent. The sea water temperature is a balmy 25˚C.
Obzor’s average temperature starts to cool down as autumn arrives,
although not by a significant amount – the average temperature has only dropped
by a few degrees and settled around 20˚C-25˚C. Precipitation
levels in September sit around 153 mm, and in October 92 mm. It may rain for 4 days in September, while rainfall
days in October average at 5 days. Obzor enjoys about 8 hours of daily sunshine
in September, while October receives 5 hours. The seawater temperature during
these months is an average of 18 ˚C - 22 ˚C.
The winter season in Obzor tends to be cold and wet with average precipitation
levels of 36 mm recorded in December and 8 rainy
days in the same month. The average temperature
reaches a high of 8 ˚C in December and 6 ˚C in January, while the nighttime
average temperature drops down to 2 ˚C and -1 ˚C in December and January
respectively. This season receives 2 – 3 hours
of sunshine every day. The seawater temperature
averages around 8 – 10 ˚C during the winter season. Obzor does not receive
winter snowfall, although snow can be seen on the mountains tops for 200 days
Spring in Obzor is very pleasant with sunny weather and a bracing breeze.
The months of April and May see an average temperature of 23 degrees Celsius during
the spring season. The average high temperature meanwhile reaches 15 ˚C in
April and 20 ˚C in May, while the minimum temperature at night goes down to 7˚C
in April and 10 ˚C in May. Number of rainfall days averages around 7 – 8 days,
the average precipitation amount is 51 mm April and 135 mm in May. The amount
of sunshine received every day is around 6 – 8 hours and the seawater
temperature ranges from 10 – 15 ˚C.
