Met Office meteorologists are predicting that most places will enjoy some sunshine during the Bank Holiday weekend before an area of low pressure begins to move in from the Atlantic during Sunday.
There will be a few showers on Saturday, heaviest in the east of the UK. However, many places will see some sunshine and it will become largely fine and dry from the west.
The largely fine weather should last through much of Sunday, although an area of low pressure may bring more cloud, some rain and stronger winds to western areas later in the day.
Bank Holiday Monday currently looks quite unsettled with outbreaks of rain and brisk winds affecting many areas, especially southern Britain, but parts of Scotland may have a mostly dry day.
Chief Meteorologist, Paul Gundersen, said: “We are expecting a good deal of dry weather this weekend before an area of low pressure moves across the UK by Monday. It is likely that the best of the dry and fine weather will be in the west Saturday and further east on Sunday, but rain and brisk winds will affect many places on Monday.”
James Berresford, VisitEngland Chief Executive, said: “There are 4 million Brits planning a holiday trip in England this weekend which is testament to the fantastic product on offer in England. With an enormous amount going on this weekend at our world class indoor and outdoor attractions and a host of events and festivals happening across the country, there is still time to plan a last minute short break or day trip in England to enjoy, whatever the weather.”
