Situated in the most western point of Jamaica, the weather in Negril is generally hot and gives an ideal for vacation for tourists visiting the island of “great sun-tan and warm seas”. There is constantly a gentle breeze blowing with occasional light showers that can at times make the days seem quite humid. Despite the change in the weather many visitors seek the comfort of the poolside, the cool Caribbean waters, or the comfort of their air-conditioned rooms.

Negril’s climate is tropical with constant warm to hot temperatures all year round. May and November are the months that feature the most rainfall, when short brisk showers occur. Minimal rain is obtained throughout the year mostly taking place in soft soothing showers in the early evenings. February and March are the driest months and the nights generally start to cool off from December to April.

Negril benefits from some of the Caribbean’s most pleasing weather; a wonderful, warm, tropical climate with year-round sunshine and striking balmy nights. Negril’s average climate and sunshine hours stay generally comparable throughout an entire year. Negril climates throughout the winter time average around 26ºC while during the summer months temperatures linger around 28ºC. Negril average high temperatures rarely exceed 30ºC and humidity will not often go beyond 70%. Negril climates are also tempered by sea breezes that make the region ideal for water sports, particularly during the winter. Only light clothes is needed but it’s always a good idea to take a jacket when climbing the mountains into higher altitudes.

Scuba diving is extremely popular, with excellent facilities all around the island and many licensed operators. The extensive coastline and miles of beautiful crystal clear Caribbean waters give the opportunities to see wrecks, coral reefs swarming with marine life. With an average year-round sea temperature of 27°C, Negril is an underwater paradise for anyone with a snorkel.

Broadly speaking the best time to go to Negril is the winter season from December to April. Summer weather in Negril can be very pleasant with plenty of sunshine. Summer is the easiest time to find cheap holidays in Negril. Cloudless, pleasant days are very frequent at any time of year as rainfall is usually in short heavy downpours.
