Averages for Mombasa in October

Mombasa, Kenya will appeal to those who like to travel in the colder UK months to get somewhere warm, because it gets warmer the further into the year you go. October shows further increase in temperatures with an average high of 29°C and an average low of °C, as well as a 27°C average for the sea temperature. There is slightly less sun than September though, at eight hours per day, and rainfall increases again to 100 mm over 11 days. The good news is that October does not typically have rain on more days, it just rains more on the wet days.

While September caters to the car enthusiasts, October addresses the film buffs. The Kenya International Film Festival is located in Nairobi, but with screenings, film premieres, workshops, debates, competitions and music performances, most would agree it’s worth the drive.

Fans of water sports will want to take advantage of Mombasa’s warm sea temperatures, and the perfect way to do so is by scuba diving. Mombasa’s north coast has Peponi Divers, and the club offers free pick up from any hotel on Mombasa’s north coast. The diving instructors all speak English, German and French, and there are over 25 diving sites to suit all skill levels. To get a true sense of Mombasa’s underwater world, Peponi Divers can take you into wrecks, caverns, or just down into the deep. If you want to enjoy the water in another way, Wild Waters Kenya is a water park that will definitely thrill the kids.

Another hotel on the south coast is the SheShe Baharini Beach Hotel, a four-star private and exclusive boutique hotel on one of Kenya’s most idyllic beaches. The exclusive hotel has 30 en-suite rooms in blocks of three, all with private verandas overlooking the ocean or tropical gardens. The hotel emphasised relaxed comfort and luxury, so each room has its own colour scheme, hand-carved wooden furniture, walk-in shows, mosquito nets and air-conditioning.
