Averages for Mombasa in November
November is the month in Mombasa, Kenya when the temperatures reach a point warmer than six months of the year, with an average high of 30°C and an average low of 22°C. Most travellers would be pleased to learn that the low temperature is as high as 22°C, because it still negates the need for a jacket. The sea temperature is usually at 28°C, which is warmer than the land between June and August, and rainfall again decreases to 90 mm over 10 days. There is also an increase in sun to nine hours per day. In addition to Mombasa, Kilifi, Kenya has very similar weather but is located on the Goshi estuary of the Goshi River – known as one of the best beaches in Kenya.
Mombasa has its very own carnival in November. Taking place in Moi Avenue, there are two parades boasting lots of music, dancing and bright costumes. However, no trip to Africa would be complete without a safari and Mombasa has a number of tour operators available, including distance safaris and private safaris. Kenyan Smiles is one operator and offers a hands-on experience, guaranteeing to provide a real cross section of Kenya’s glorious landscape and animals.
One of the south coast’s most prestigious hotels is The Sands At Nomad, set within 25 acres of indigenous forest and behind 225 metres of white sand and ocean. There are 18 rooms, 12 luxurious suites and seven exclusive beach cottages. Much of the accommodation has private Jacuzzis and terraces with panoramic views. The main restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and Nomad has developed a reputation as the best place to go for sushi.
