Averages for Marmaris in May

Temperatures begin to rise quite considerably in Marmaris in May as the tourist season kicks off.

Daytime temperatures now reach a high of 25°C (77°F) and only fall to around 12°C (53°F) in the evenings.

The sun shines for around 10 hours every day and there is much less chance of rain in May than in preceding months.

Of course the main attraction of Marmaris at this time of year is the beach, located right in front of the city and spanning the entire harbour. The beach is kept very clean and has good facilities such as kiosks and toilets.

For the thrill seekers among you there are plenty of water sports on offer such as jet skiing, parasailing and the obligatory banana boat!

Boat cruises are available along the coast line and stop at beauty spots such as Paradise Island and Phosphorus Cave.

Holiday makers with young children will be pleased to hear that the Atlantis Waterpark opens in May and there is something for all the family – whether it is the wave pool and water slide for the kids or the poolside bar for the grown ups!

Families will find plenty of excellent places to stay in Marmaris but it is advised that you avoid the busy centre of the city at this time of year as it can become very noisy. Armutalan is much quieter, so whether you want a self catering apartment such as Club Aladdin or a large resort such as Mustis Royal Plaza, you are bound to find something to suit you.

Younger holiday makers who wish to be close to the nightlife should check out Hotel Honeymoon as it is within walking distance of the best night spots in town.
