Averages for Maldives in September
September is one of the final months of the wet season in the Maldives and so is not an ideal month to visit the area.
As this is the rainy season, an average of 243mm of rain is expected over 16 days.
The increased rainfall combines with strong winds and frequent storms.
Temperatures drop slightly as a result at this time of the year, however, they remain high, as does the sea temperature, meaning that those in the Maldives in September can still enjoy the paradisiacal weather the area is known for.
As this is the off season, the chances are that you won’t be able to spend all your time on the beach. Heading to the capital city of Male though will allow you to take advantage of the many cultural attractions.
Those who are interested in art should head to the National Art Gallery. The gallery holds a number of exhibitions and is at the heart of the country’s art scene. It’s also one of the main tourism attractions in the area.
As well as this, Esjehi art gallery is a smaller space dedicated to the preservation and promotion of both traditional and modern art. Holding a few exhibitions, the gallery does put on workshops, which give emerging talent a chance to get their work displayed.
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay, the Beehive Nalahiya Hotel is a hotel that offers a convenient location and excellent facilities, including transport to and from the airport. The affordable rates mean that a stay here won’t break the budget either.
