Introduction:
Majorca (also known as Mallorca) is the largest of Balearic Islands, and along with its sister islands of Menorca and Ibiza, lies in the Mediterranean Sea off the south east coast of mainland Spain.

In the northwest it is mountainous and has flat plains in the east. Most of the tourist resorts are located along the eastern side of the island, but you may wish to stay away from these to get a flavour for what Mallorca was like before the tourists arrived.
