June becomes extremely warm in Lefkada as the summer season is in full swing.
Daytime temperatures now reach a high of 26°C (79°F) and fall no lower than 18°C (64°F) in the evenings.
Rain is also scarce at this time of year, meaning you will be spending a lot of time at the beach.
Sporty holiday makers should head to Vassiliki Beach, which is famed for its windsurfing bolstered by a powerful afternoon wind known as ‘Eric’.
Pefkoulia and Milos beaches are very popular, and are in close proximity to the pretty village of Aghios Nikitas.
Most of this village is pedestrianised so you can while away an afternoon strolling around the shops or relaxing in the many tavernas.
It is also surrounding by hills covered in olive and pine trees, so you can take a walk and relax in the shade.
Lefkada can be extremely busy at this time of year so accommodation will not be as easy or cheap to come by. Make sure you do your research well in advance of your holiday to bag the best deals.
If you are out and about during the day, make sure you drink plenty of fluids to avoid sunstroke, and where enough sunscreen to protect your skin from the sun’s harsh rays.
The Agios Ioannis is celebrated on June 24th and is the feast day of John the Baptist. This is usually marked throughout Greece with the lighting of large bonfires.
