Averages for Lake Como in September
Lake Como, in the Lombardy region of Italy in the north, enjoys a warm and pleasant Mediterranean climate. September is no exception and is a great time to travel to this area.
September has the best of both
worlds when it comes to the weather; the summer sun brings temperatures of 25
degrees Celsius , but the sweltering heat of the previous months disappears so
travellers should find September a lot more comfortable. Rainfall is similar to
that of August; around 6 inches over 10 days so even if things do get a little
hot, there’s always the odd rain shower for cooling down.
September is a perfect time for
hitting the Lake Como shoreline and soaking up the rays on the beach. The best
place for sun-worshippers is the Lido Villa Olmo
in the area’s namesake town of Como. This private beach complex provides deck
chairs, pools, jacuzzis, boat rentals and even a beachside bar.
There are plenty of accommodation options along the shores
of the lake. La Cassinazza, a 400 year old farmhouse, offers
rooms from just £32 per night.
Even if opera isn’t a top priority for holidaymakers, the opera house itself, the Teatro Sociale, should not be missed. Traditional architecture and larger-than-life stonework columns are not only fascinating to look at but also provide that picture-perfect photo opportunity.
