La Zenia is a small, beach resort town on the Southern Costa Blanca of Spain. In total the Costa Blanca has over 200 kilometers of sandy beaches that are perfect for lounging. There are also a number of activities, whether visitors prefer to be on the water or in the countryside. These fantastic beaches can be enjoyed throughout late spring and all summer long, as the weather remains clear, the temperatures moderate and a cool sea breeze counters the bright sunshine.
All of southern Spain is known to be sunny and warm. However, many regions in this part of Spain experience all four seasons, including cold winters that are not ideal for tourism. However, the Costa Blanca, including La Zenia enjoys the fantastic benefits of a Mediterranean climate with long hours of sunshine and low annual rainfall. Some could say the climate in this location of Spain is essentially perfect all year long, and because the weather and climate in La Zenia is so enticing, this region has become an admired tourist destination for visitor’s devoted to the town’s 325 days of nearly constant sunshine.
In fact, the town enjoys more than 2,800 hours of sunshine each year with an average annual temperature of 18.4°C (65.3°F). Many people are also selecting to reside in La Zenia because of the outstanding year round weather conditions and high-quality services such as shopping centers, restaurants, hospitals and schools. The World Health Organization portrays the climate of the Costa Blanca as one of the finest in the world, and any visitor will quickly understand why.
Spring in La Zenia is absolutely lovely. The months of March, April and May are characterised by rising temperatures, lengthening days and reliable sunshine. As the season progresses, the already pleasant weather of La Zenia becomes even more enticing to those planning a holiday.
The first month of spring, March, can begin with a chill. However, the afternoons quickly begin to warm, but by the end of the month there is still the need for a jacket. Overall, March has an average temperature of 14°C (57°F). Given the lingering cool temperatures in March, the month of April is the first month of outdoor dining and al fresco drinks at sunset. The average high temperature for April creeps up to 16°C (61°F), and on the warmer days and evenings visitors may finally leave their jackets behind.
It is in May that the small resort of La Zenia really begins to shine as a tourist destination. Not only are the temperatures warmer, but the sun is stronger and walks along the esplanade in La Zenia or the nearby towns and beaches are enjoyable and comfortable.
La Zenia's summers are typically hot, but thanks to the cooling seas breezes that blow across La Zenia on a near constant basis, the temperature remains tolerable. These are the months of the tourism high season, and the number of visitors to La Zenia and the surrounding towns swells to capacity.
The days of June, July and August become perfect for lounging on the beach and outdoor dining. As well, the skies are cloudless and clear, with very little precipitation for all three months of summer. In fact, there are summers when with no rainfall at all.
La Zenia’s summertime average temperature will range between 23°C (73°F) to 27°C (81°F). La Zenia’s summer temperatures will commonly stay above 16°C (61°F). The month of June remains temperate. However, in July and August the weather in La Zenia can be almost unbearably hot, with some days reaching high temperatures of 31°C (88°F). The only relief during the midday highs comes from the cooling sea breeze that blows across the esplanade and into the outdoor restaurants along La Zenia’s beaches and the low humidity in the region.
Fortunately, the strong sun also causes a rise in the sea temperature over the summer months, and the average sea temperature of 23°C (73°F), for all three months, is idea for swimming at the nearby beaches.
Many find that autumn, particularly the months of September and October, is the ideal time to visit southern Spain. A visit to the resort of La Zenia is no exception. The brilliance of this small town’s Mediterranean climate is on display as the air temperatures begin to drop, but the water remains warm. Additionally, there is still very little rain or humidity at this time of year.
September arrives in La Zenia with some reprieve from the August heat, and from the number of tourists. While August sees the warmest sea temperatures, the Mediterranean Sea remains at an average temperature of 24°C (75°F) for the month of September, and visitors still regularly swim, take boating trips and snorkel throughout this month.
October and November begin to cool, andl the month of October is the wettest in La Zenia. However, with only an average of 67 mm of rain, precipitation is unlikely to ruin anyone’s holiday.
In comparison to the majority of Europe the winter in La Zenia is very mild. Blue skies and sunny days are the most noticeable feature of La Zenia’s winter months, yet the climates can still very a great deal.
On a given day in December the region can see temperatures of 17°C (63°F), which is perfectly pleasant and comfortable for a number of activities along Spain’s southern coast. Yet, on other days in January the temperature can drop to a mere 6°C (43°F), making the air very cold and chilly. Even throughout the winter the region of La Zenia experiences very little rainfall, with the month of January only averaging 25 mm of precipitation and 6 wet days.
In February the temperatures begin to warm, but it will not be until spring when the sea temperatures follow suit. If you’re a holidaymaker visiting La Zenia in winter; despite the mild climates it is always a good idea to take a few extra layers of clothing and be prepared to spend some of the cooler days off the beach engaged in other activities.
La Zenia has some of the most excellent weather in Spain, and it is easy to see why it is a consistently popular holiday destination on the Costa Blanca.
