Averages for Kos in May

Tourist season is technically considered to be June, July and August. However, summer weather definitely begins in May on the island of Kos, Greece. The main thing that May brings is stability after the hit-and-miss cold weather and showers of the spring. Many people find that May is a great time to visit Kos because it is sunny and dry. It is warm enough to spend time on the beaches, yet they are not as crowded as they will be for the next two months.

The average temperature is 66.9°F (19.4°C).

The average low temperature is 60°F (15.6°C). The average high temperature is 73.1°F (22.8°C).

The average sea temperature is 66°F (19°C).

Kos’s nightlife is varied so that every visitor will be able to find a place where he or she feels right at home. There are plenty of taverns and restaurants which serve traditional Greek dishes. There are also many clubs, discos and bars. Many of these are located on the “Bar Street” in the middle of the island’s capital. This “bar mile” draws tourists each year who come with a singular ambition: to party.

Ronnie’s Bar, for example, is run by down to earth people who are excellent hosts. This particular bar is near Kardamena in an easy-to-find location.

Iberostar Astir Odysseus offers spacious rooms, three swimming pools, and a restaurant that has an outdoor dining area. At this restaurant, breakfast and dinner are set up as a buffet.

The mini-suites are very nice. Some have a sea view, while others provide quick access to the pool.

Having a car is a must when staying at this hotel because there are so many interesting things to see and do within driving distance. There is also a Kid’s Club.

Another quality hotel that is also a great deal for its prices is the Chrysoula Apartments. There are different blocks of rooms within the complex which allows guests to choose what is most important to them. For example, Block B faces south and is very light, while Block D is very quiet.

Previous guests can not say enough about the friendliness of the staff. Also, they find the bar menu sufficient and priced reasonably. Although the hotel is toward the end of the beach area, several restaurants are within walking distance from it.

The pool is a major selling point of this hotel. It is very large, yet it is shallow enough for even non-swimmers. There are free sun beds and mattresses as well.

A nearby tavern that former guests recommend is Savvas, which is behind Jim’s Supermarket. The food is lovingly made, and there is plenty of it, all for a great price.
