Kos caters to both the visitors who would like to see authentic shops and restaurants and those who would like to retain just a bit of home in more modern stores. There are outlets and shopping centers, and there are also markets which sell handmade crafts of the island. Some of these include pottery, cotton and other textile goods, leather items, jewellery, honey, specialty food and drinks.

The island’s museums are worth visiting. They vary in theme to teach visitors quite a bit about the area. For example, the Archaeological Museum in the capital displays relics, statues and mosaics from the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

The Medical Museum is near another great landmark, the Asklepion. This museum is purely dedicated to Hippocrates and his contributions to the medical field.

Since the island depends heavily on the sea, the Maritime Museum features the effect this has had on the island’s history and tradition.

The varied nightlife is not to be ignored. Places like the Camel Bar, in the middle of Kos’s harbour, can boast a great atmosphere every night.

The Oceanis Beach and Spa Hotel is an excellent all inclusive option in the area. It has lightly-travelled beaches, yet it is very close to the city of Kos. It is termed “adults only,” which appeals to many travellers without children. The hotel itself is an architectural delight. Even the reception is very up-to-date in its design. Rooms are updated as well.

Outside the hotel, the grounds resemble paradise. There is a bus stop practically on the hotel’s doorstep, so getting into town is no problem, and tickets can even be bought ahead of time at the reception desk. Plenty of sun beds, tennis courts and an on-site tavern that overlooks the sea and nearby Turkey make this hotel an excellent choice.

Another great hotel is the Kos Imperial Thalasso. The rooms are very big, and the location is well suited for those who want to spend time on the beach and at the pool. However, it also gives quick access to the city as well.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with detailed design in the lobby and bar areas especially. The choice of on-site pools and restaurants is a great feature for all-inclusive guests.
