Holiday Guide for Ibiza

Introduction:
Ibiza (Eivissa) is in the Balearic Islands off the East coast of Spain. Ibiza is famous for its nightlife and thousands of tourists flock here every summer for a deborcheous and outrageous experience. This is the clubbing capital of Europe; the town is packed with clubs and bars teeming with people. Coupled with the beautiful beaches, its no wonder it's such a popular destination.


History:
Human occupancy on the Balearic Islands dates back to 5000 BC, and Ibiza city was established by the Carthaginians, which was a major port of the area. The Romans, Visigoths, Muslims and Catalans all inhabited the area leaving their influence in the architecture and landscape. Travel to Ibiza became popular with Hippies in the 1960s due to the increase in air travel, and the laid back attitude of the island and people.


Things to See:
There is more to see on Ibiza except the inside of a club. Ibiza town itself is quite charismatic, with a beautiful old quarter, and the numerous cafes and restaurants are great for people watching. There are markets in Sa Penya great for funky clothes and quirky gifts. Ibiza also has many activities on offer including water sports, especially diving and snorkelling, and island tours.

Santa Eul?ria d'es Riu is Ibiza's third largest town which is a popular destination for families. It is not as busy as Ibiza city and the only real attraction is the hilltop church overlooking the town.

Cova de Can MarÁ? near Port de Sant Miquel is an underground cave system worth a visit.



Weather:
The weather in Ibiza is near to perfect. The summers are hot with little rain, plenty of sunshine and the water temperature reaches 25? - 27?C. The winters are mild, with the average temp being 15?C.

There are multiple daily directs flights to Ibiza from many European cities. There are also internal flights from the mainland.
