Weather lowdown

The subtropical desert climate means there's very little differentiation between the seasons in Hurghada, and it's practically summer all throughout the year - even in November.

Temperatures during this month peak at around 25 degrees celsius, and rarely drop below 21 degrees. November is actually the wettest month of the year on Hurghada, but with just 4mm falling on average, it is unlikely to deter visitors.

You can expect to enjoy 8 hours of sunshine a day, and the sea water temperature meanwhile is bath-like 25 degrees.

Things to do

One of the most famous landmarks in the world, the Sahara Desert is a must-visit during your holiday in Hurghada. The best way to explore this site is on an excursion such as the 4WD Desert Safari and Bedouin Dinner, which includes a belly dancing show, camel ride, sand dune climb and star gazing. If you've got some time to explore the desert, you'll find several kiosks where you can rent motorbikes and open dune buggies to get around. The heat is often unbearable during the summer months, so try and visit during winter or spring if you can and make sure you pack your camera.

If you want to see the best that Egypt has to offer, sign up for a Bedayah Tour. Programme one is one of the most comprehensive and takes place over four days and three nights. Perfect for families and couples of all ages alike, this excursion begins at Cairo airport and includes several breakfasts, lunches and dinners along the way, as well as a visit to the Saqqara, several pyramids and the Sphinx, the Egyptian museum, Old Cairo, the Citadel, the Alabaster Mosque and Khan al-Khalili Bazaar. With photo opportunities at every corner, make sure you take your camera with you.

Where to eat & drink

When it comes to Asian cuisine, it doesn't get much better than the food served at Little Buddha. Here diners can choose from a vast array of starters and mains such as pan-seared scallops, Chinese chicken salad and miso soup, followed by mains like curry shrimp with cilantro rice, baked orange duck and sesame-crusted tuna. There is also a top selection of sushi and combination platters available, as well as a handful of international desserts.

Seafood lovers won't want to pass up the chance to enjoy a meal at El Mina Restaurant. Here you'll find a menu full of fresh and locally-sourced fish and seafood dishes, including seafood soup, prawns and white fish which will be baked or fried, according to your preference. Known throughout Hurghada for its incredibly low prices, El Mina Restaurant is a hot pick for families and large groups.

Famous Bar is another top destination for holidaymakers who want to try their hand at karaoke. A fusion of restaurant and bar, this air-conditioned venue hosts karaoke sessions several times each week with a fantastic selection of international songs available. In addition to the karaoke, this bar also features a resident DJ and serves a menu full of Russian and Japanese specialities.
