March becomes slightly warmer in Vietnam. Daytime temperatures rise to around 23°C during the day and only fall as low as 17°C.
The winter months are the dry season in this area so there is less chance of tropical storms. There is also much less humidity at this time of year.
It can become drizzly and there are long periods where Ha Long Bay is covered in mist, which can reduce visibility.
You will most likely be staying in Hanoi or Haiphong City and can set up a trip to Ha Long Bay with the vast array of tour operators in the area. Two or three day trips are usually recommended to take in everything the area has to offer.
There are boat tours available of the bay with many good English speaking guides to tell you more about the history and wildlife of the area.
There are plenty of famous caves to explore, and for the more adventurous you can try some kayaking, rock climbing and scuba diving.
Cat Ba Island, with its large national park, is also a must see for nature lovers due to the abundance of flora and fauna on the island.
And March sees Vietnam celebrate National Women’s Day on the 8th of the month with a public holiday.
