Holiday Reviews for Goa
"Holidays in a changing Goa"
Weather : Weather excellent, although unusual for March, we did experience a few downfalls of rain - but early morning. Normally rain not seen at all at this time of year.
Never thought I would say this, but not sure I would recommend Goa any more as it has changed so much. It is about the people, but the popularity of it has resulted in an inability to cope with cleanliness and maintenance.
Holiday : We have visited Goa for last 10 years - sometimes twice a year. We have noticed the changes over the years - Candolim retains the quieter more tranquil touches, whilst Baga/Calangute have become more Spanish resort influenced. This year, the impact of police activity has meant the shacks are limited on their bed allowance. In November when we visited, the shacks at Baga/Calangute did not have licences, so limited service. In Candolim they waited for licences to be issued so construction and service not in operation. We would not visit November again until confident resolved. There is no option for Not Sure on the "would you recommend" option - so have conservatively gone with Yes.
Places Recommended : The usual places - but not via organised trips - get taxi driver for personal and cheaper touch. Waterfalls, spice plantations, elephant riding (bareback if you don't go with the tours....). Depending on your tastes - do the markets. Suggest visiting for experience rather than purchase as prices inflated at Anjuna/Ingos/Mackies. We go for samosa and drink and watch world go by. Can go from Baga/Calangute by boat to Anjuna.

"Candolim"
Weather : Fantastic. Sunny for fourteen days. Ave Temp 31c. Be very careful. This is not the Med, you will burn to a crisp if you do too much on the first couple of days.
Holiday : You could not wish for nicer people, Tropical beaches, wonderful food and very very cheap. Hotel very good but do not go below 3 star plus. If you are looking for lots of nightlife forget it. There are some clubs in Calengute but not many. This is a chill out holiday.
Places Recommended : The Hindu Temple's and the spice Plantation is a good day out. Hire a taxi for about £8.00 for the day. Stop at old Goa on the way back and have a look around the Churches. A day out with the monkeys or a cruise on the river and some shoping in Panjim. Sit on the beach and watch the most fantastic sunset you will ever see. Enjoy
