October Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the weather like in Fethiye in October

October is one of the most popular months of the year for visitors to FethiyeTurkey, due to the beauty of the leaves and the mild temperature that is much more comfortable than the often unbearable heat in July and August and the chill of January and February. The average temperature this month is 20°C, a full five degrees fewer than it was in September, but still more comfortable than the 15°C average in November.

Temperature

The average high temperature is a pleasant 20°C, while the average low temperature is a cool, but enjoyable 16°C. Both temperatures decrease significantly in the course of the month, though. The average high temperature drops from 30°C to 24°C; the average low decreases from 20°C to 16°C.

Sea Temperature

The average sea temperature is still quite warm at an average of 23°C, although it is unlikely that you will be in the water in October. (The same sea temperature is also recorded in June.)

Sunshine Hours

October offers 10 beautiful hours of sunshine each day on average, which is equal to the amount of sunshine in March. Considering that the days in October receive between 10.41 and 11.47 hours of daylight, it can be concluded that it is still extremely sunny this time of year. Cloud cover, however, does increase in the course of the month. It rises from 32% on October 1 to 52% on October 31.

Precipitation

There is relatively little precipitation this month, with only 5 days of rainfall on average and 47mm of total precipitation. This makes October the sixth wettest month of the year, initiating the wetter half of the year. The next five months will be much wetter; the previous six months were (sometimes significantly) drier. The likelihood that rainfall occurs increases in the course of the month. While October 1 has a 16% that it will rain, October 31 has a 27% chance of precipitation. The two most common types of rainfall are thunderstorms and light rain. They are respectively observed on 68% and 26% of the days with rainfall.

Things to do in Fethiye in October

Because the weather in October is so mild, it is a great time to really experience the great activities that Fethiye has to offer.

Saklikent Gorge

For example, approximately 45 minutes south of Fethiye lies the Saklikent Gorge.  This stunning geological feature is a beautiful place to take a hike or, if you are feeling adventurous, you can walk further upstream to try some more difficult hiking, where you are sure to get a little wet. This is the second longest gorge in Europe and the longest and deepest in Turkey. There are plenty of tour operators that offer trips to the gorge, but for absolute freedom it is, of course, suggested that you rent a car.

Butterfly Valley

Additionally, you will also not want to miss two beautiful canyons that are close to Fethiye, but also relatively isolateda href="http://turkishtravelblog.com/butterfly-valley/">Butterfly Valley and Kabak.  These canyons are located to the south of Fethiye and are a great place to escape the mass tourism that often invades other parts of the area.  These canyons, which are also perfect for hiking, are great places to relax away from the crowds.

Pinara

Another fascinating place that is worth visiting is Pinara. The ancient ruins of Pinara date from Lycian times and include one of the best-preserved amphitheatres in the region. The ancient royal tombs are not to be missed either. Located in the Xanthos Valley, Pinara is less popular as a tourist destination than nearby Tlos or Xanthos, but that doesn't mean it's less amazingt is definitely a suggested place for a day trip!
