July Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

What's the weather like in Estepona in July

The midsummer night's dream certainly unfolds on the beautiful Costa del Sol, especially around the charming resort of Estepona.

Temperature

July rolls into town with comfortably hot average temperatures around 22°C (72°F). The nights are breezy at 19°C as the low average, while the hotter days reach about 25°C on the high average. However expect the high end to go well over that, particularly in these parts of the peninsula. The humidity is low at 63% with non-oppressive dew points, making the heat perfectly bearable along the coastline, particularly given the drier winds coming from North Africa.

Sunshine Hours

The days are long, with up to 14 hours of glorious sunshine, and chances of sunny days are higher than ever at 70% on average making this the sunniest month of the year! So pack that sun lotion now, before you regret it later. July is known to be not only superb and sunny, but also slightly deceiving in terms of ultraviolet rays, so it's best to be prepared when sunbathing.

Rainfall

Chances of clouds and rain fall to 2%, which translates into 5mm of rainfall expected for a total of 1 day in the entire month of July. In this case we strongly recommend that you do not forget to stay well hydrated, as the sea breeze takes care of keeping the air fresh and comfortable.

Wind

Chances of windy days stay bold at 57% on average, most of them southern and south-eastern winds from across the Mediterranean Sea, sporting low speeds of 1.5m/s. The tides sometimes get high during the night but the waters are rarely choppy throughout July.

Sea Temperature

The gorgeous sea maintains a perfect temperature of 22°C (72°F), ideal for swimming and snorkelling even in deeper waters, with warm tropical currents flowing from neighbouring North-African shores.

Estepona Beaches in July

Playa El Cristo

Of the many beach options for this month in Estepona, our favourite remains Playa El Cristo, one of Costa del Sol's most beautiful stretches of golden sands. It's just outside of town and it's sheltered by a charming cove, just west of the Marina. It's great for children and two chiringuitos make it excellent for long daytime sunbathing and swimming sessions. Its ideal location makes it perfect for long hours of soaking in some Spanish sun, and the water entrance is shallow, with a soft seabed.

Havana Beach

It gets quite crowded on the weekends but it's certainly worth visiting, especially when music starts pouring out of its beach bars. The trendy Havana Beach and the traditional Chiringuito Lolailo keep the guests happy and hydrated. This beach's high standards of cleanliness and safety have earned El Cristo the most coveted European Blue Flag, making it one of Europe's best places to for summertime fun.

Punta Del Plata

A narrow and not very crowded beach to try is also Punta Del Plata; it stretches from the headland all the way to La Rada Beach to the west. Playa El Padron borders it on the east side. A few steps further from Punta del Plata you can also see and enjoy Punta Pinillos, a beautiful sand and pebble strip which also doesn't suffer from overcrowding during the summer.

Bars and Restaurants

Felix Brasserie

Located in a beautiful Andalusian patio, you'll find the lovely Felix Brasserie, serving the perfect combination of Asian and European cuisine, which often results in an explosion of flavours. This is by far one of the best Euro-Asian venues on Costa del Sol, and its price range is also surprisingly friendly.

Las Palmeras

Las Palmeras can be found just a few metres from the seashore, allowing its guests to relish in the sound of waves whilst getting a taste of some of Andalusia's finest and most delicious specialties. You'll be enchanted by the wide selection of fish, shellfish and homemade desserts, which you'll be able to try in between layers of lush and fragranced gardens.

La Pepa

For some good music and the chance to shake a leg, you can easily head down to La Pepa, new to the port since 2012. It's a stylish bar which also turns into a disco, as its dancefloor is lined with banquet seating, and the chic and modern terrace further enhance its charm from the outside, with smooth outdoor seating, ambient lighting and farolas (lanterns). This is a great place to have drinks with friends, but it's also excellent for some good ol' fashioned dancing till the wee hours of the morning.

Things to do in Estepona in July

The Lobo Park

Estepona and its surrounding areas are hosts to the natural habitat of a precious population of wolves. The Lobo Park can be found near the town of Antequera, and it's a splendid and virgin wildlife park in the heart of Andalusia.

European and Timber wolves are part of its majority in some of the major enclosures built there, but you can also find rare Alaska and Iberian wolves, both protected and endangered creatures. This amazing nature park spreads over 40 hectares and is home to many flora and fauna, but perhaps its greatest accomplishment is holding a wolf population which is socialised but definitely not domesticated.

El Torcal

Costa del Sol is an area of wonderful contrasts. With breath-taking views of the Mijas region, El Torcal is a must-see during this time of the year. You can drive up to Sierra de Nieves National Park and further explore the wonders that it has to offer. Close by and dating back from old Moorish times, with plenty of splendid views to offer, you'll find Malaga, Ronda and Granada, other gems of Costa del Sol.

Ghost Tour of Malaga

If you're not squeamish, you can even try the Ghost Tour of Malaga there's some spooky business going on there! Your best bet at exploring Mijas during this time of the year is by booking one of the Andalucia and Costa del Sol Tours with John and Christine Oldfield, well-known for their comprehensive and affordable packages.

Guadalhorce Lakes

You can also venture out to El Chorro, Estepona's most prized jewel the Guadalhorce Lakes. It's less than an hours' drive from Mijas and the route alone takes you through some truly superb natural scenery. The waters here are an unbelievable shade of blue and they're perfect for a swim if you want to cool off from the drive itself.

Mijas Aqua Park

July is one of the best times to go and enjoy the Aqua Park on the Fuengirola ring-road next to the turn off for Coin/Mijas Golf. There's another one near Torremolinos that you might try as well. People travel from as far as Gibraltar to spend a day in the Mijas Aqua Park! There's a heap of fun things to do among the pools and waterslides, and you can easily grab one of the special entrance offers from the local English newspapers (The Entertainer & Sur). You're welcome!
