What's the weather like in Costa Dorada in July?

July marks the high season for tourism in the region around Costa Dorada as temperatures have skyrocketed both on land and in the sea and rain remains hard to come by. As a result, vacationers flock to the region during this time of the year even if prices are a little bit higher than in some of the other off-peak months such as November.

Festa Popular

July in Costa Dorada is a month for the children.  In Mora La Nova, they annually hold the Festa Popular in which the children will enjoy the performances especially for them.  There will also be the traditional "fire-running" and performances with mythical animals as characters.

Festes del Pa Bene

For those who are food lovers, a gastronomic event to look forward to in the first week of July is the Festes del Pa Bene (religious bread) in El Vendrell.  This festival dates back to the medieval times and is connected with harvest season.  Couples wear traditional costumes and together they bless a coca (special cake), which is decorated with carnations.  The festival lasts for a week and everyday there will be processions sponsored by the communities. With only 10mm of precipitation expected in the month, this is a great time to enjoy all the local festivals and activities.

Mare de deu del Carme

The feast day of the patron saint of sailors Mare de deu del Carme is celebrated every July 16 with maritime processions and the image of the Virgin is loaded on a boat that traverses the sea along the coastal communities. This festival is popular in the fishing towns of Cambrils and Sant Carles de la Rapita where the procession starts at sunset and the sky will be lighted with fireworks.
