Things to do

The nearby market town of Monchique is a short detour from Carvoeiro and a charming break from your relaxing vacation. This unique town boasts the ruins of a 17th century convent, Caldas de Monchique (a Roman bath) and a beautiful path up to Santa Teresa that leads into a serene park. The 35.6 km drive is worth it to view the hillside and quaint village with rustic and medieval ruins.

If you want to stay within Corvoeiro than try a game of golf at the Vale de Pinta Golf Course. Located in central Algarve, the course is best undertaken with a buggy, unless you enjoy walking. The fairways are adorned with trees while the 18 hole course is home to a golf academy, restaurant and bar, shop and driving range.

If you are looking for a quintessentially Carvoeiro dining experience, make a reservation for Happy's. This restaurant offers generous portions and Portuguese staples at a low cost. The establishment can get rather busy so making a reservation is a good idea. As there is no air conditioning besides fan, it's best to visit when the air is brisk and during quieter periods.

Alternatively, you may enjoy the Pimenta Preta Restaurant. Located at the Pestana Pal Gardens Resort, this eatery has a luxurious setting with a tranquil atmosphere and terrace overlooking the hotel swimming pool. Serving Mediterranean cuisine, the menu depends upon the season. The wine list is exquisite and one of the best in the region. It's only a short distance to the heart of Carvoeiro so you can always head to a bar after dining in the restaurant in the evening.
