Once a sleepy fishing village, Carvoeiro is growing into one of the hottest holiday destinations on the Atlantic coast.  The town and surrounding area have golden sand beaches, stunning rock formations and luxurious resorts that make Carvoeiro a wonderful holiday hotspot. 

The summer heat is in full effect in Carvoeiro in July.  The average daily temperature hovers around 24 degrees Celsius.  The recorded low for July is 18 degrees Celsius and the average highest is 29 degrees Celsius.  Rainfall drops to 1 mm throughout the entire month with an average of 14 hours of sunshine each day.  July is truly a beautiful time to visit. 

The Tivoli Carvoeiro is a luxurious resort with a one-of-a-kind location.  This four-star hotel is located near the edge of the golden, carved cliffs that spot the Portuguese coast.  From the pool of the Tivoli, you can look out at the beautiful rock formations and turquoise blue sea.  The resort also offers fine dining restaurants, a full-service diving centre and golf courses.  With the large number of bars and restaurants in the hotel, you may not even want to leave. 

For dinner, make reservations at O Salmao, renowned for its hospitality as well as its delicious food.  O Salmao, run by a husband and wife and their adult children, has a reputation for the finest seafood in the area.  Located just off of the main centre of Carvoeiro, O Salmao is unpretentious and a place you can even bring children. 

Take a trip to the Sagres for a visit to a man-made fortified town built by Prince Henry the Navigator hundreds of years ago.  This fortress was intended to further research in navigation, cartography, astronomy and is where the caravel was designed.  It is a crucial part in Portugal’s history of exploration.  The historical significance of this fortress is matched by its spectacular views of the sea.
