The daily average temperature for Carvoeiro in August is approximately 24 °C. Rainfall is not an issue during the month as only 4mm of rain is expected. If you're planning on visiting the resort then pack your beach clothes and shorts and t-shirts as its perfect weather. The highest ever recorded temperature for Carvoeiro in August has been a boiling 40 °C with the lowest being fourteen degrees Celsius. However, temperatures are normally in the twenties. Humidity for the resort can reach 63% but due to the hot temperatures, caution is advised. It's important to take regular breaks from the outdoor sun, drink lots of water to keep your hydration levels up and apply a high SPF on exposed skin to avoid sunburn. The weather at this time of the year is more than perfect for taking part in a range of water sports.  The sea temperature is 23°C which means many will enjoy taking a swim in the ocean to cool off from the heat.

While the tourist season is in force, enjoy a luxurious stay at the Vale d'El Rey Suite and Villas Hotel. With 76 hotel rooms, each one boasts a private bathroom, spacious lounge and free Wi-Fi. Guests can enjoy two swimming pools, lake and stream as well as a spa, fitness centre, hot tub, tennis court and restaurant. You can grab a buffet style breakfast and snacks on the terrace or have a cocktail in the café. It's less than two miles to the local beach and the hotel can arrange biking and horse riding activities if required.

Things to do

There are lots of attractions for those visiting the Algarve. Located just 22 minutes away from Carvoeiro is Portimao. Here, you can board the Ophelia to explore the waters. The coastline of the Algarve is stunningly beautiful so take your camera and snap away. On board, you can sunbathe and top up your tan while viewing the village of Ferragudo and rock formations at Carvoeiro. Have a barbecue lunch on a private beach and take a quick dip in the waters before heading back on board. This four hour cruise makes a relaxing adventure for both adults and children and is reasonably priced.

If you're wanting to experience a range of international cuisine then head over to Vila Nova. Located just outside the centre of town, this eatery has friendly staff, great food and reasonable prices. Opt for prawn cocktail, salmon or spare ribs. Run by a husband and wife team, this peaceful restaurant is the ideal place to have a relaxing evening meal followed by a glass of wine.

The Algarve has a variety of bars for those who enjoy nightlife. Whether you want a lively evening or just a quick drink, there's something for everyone to enjoy. The Cocktail Garden is a fun and friendly bar in the heart of Carvoeiro. Grab a refreshing cocktail, a cold beer or shot as there's an extensive drinks menu to choose from. Have your drinks by the outside fountain and palm trees and make it a night to remember.

Dates to Note

There are many events taking place in the Algarve during August. Until the 23rd of the month, you can enjoy music in Carvoeiro Square. This open air concert by the beach lets you relax by the sea! Alternatively, head to Portimao for the local book fair. Taking place until the 23rd, you'll find cheap books for sale as well as readings by many local writers.

If you enjoy fishing then you'll love the Festival da Sardinha. Occurring from the 12th to 16th of August, you can have freshly cooked fish while listening to live music by the waterfront. It's completely free to attend too.

One of the oldest festivals in the region is the Fatacil festival. From the 21st to 31st of August, you can attend this vibrant event that showcases tourism, agriculture, crafts and other forms of trade. Located in Lagoa, there's live entertainment, food, drink, fairground stalls and other aspects for all the family to enjoy. It's open until late in the evening so make a night of it.
