August in Cancun still sees unbelievable warm temperatures and bright, clear skies that keep the beaches and the surrounding water full at all hours of the day.

Visitors are welcome to simply lounge on the beach all day, or they can be more active and take advantage of the countless aquatic activities that the area has available.

From snorkelling and scuba diving near the Great Mesoamerican Reef (the second-largest reef in the world) to deep sea fishing, sailing or jet skiing, the waters of Cancun will have something for everyone.

Some say it’s never too hot for golf. If you believe that, then Cancun is the place to be. While the temperatures are quite warm, the ocean breeze does tend to make outdoor activities like golf much more comfortable.

Another outdoor Cancun activity is visiting the ancient Mayan ruins and learning about the culture that founded the area. Those who come from similar climates will not find even the high August temperatures too hot for these guided tours which provide in-depth and interesting information about the ancient but very advanced civilization.

August tourists are probably anticipating the exciting nightlife for which the area is famous. Those people will not be disappointed with the ample selection of bars, clubs and restaurants that stay open late into the night and (for some of them) well into the wee hours of the morning too.

For those who really can’t stand to be too far away from the water, August is a great time to visit Xel-Ha, a tropical water park, where visitors are invited to discover for themselves the forests and water-filled landscapes of the unique Yucatan Peninsula.
