Weather Overview for Can Picafort
Can Picafort sits
Summer, from June till September, is hot, sunny and dry. The average high temperature rises from an already hot 25°C in June, to a peak of 29°C in July and August, cooling off slightly in September to 27°C. It can often get up into the low 30s and while the heat is usually tempered by a sea breeze, it can get uncomfortable. Night time average lows stay up near 20°C for the season and it can often be very hot. While this allows for typically Mediterranean outdoor dinners late into the night and a minimal wardrobe, it can also make sleeping difficult if your fan or air-conditioning is not up to standard. June is the sunniest month seeing eleven hours of sunshine per day. Rain is almost unheard of. The crowds thicken and it might be more advisbale to visit in early autumn of late spring.
Autumn, in October and November, starts off better than the peaks of most English summers with an average high temperature of 23°C. This is perhaps the perfect time to visit the area as the hot day times are complemented by cool evenings with average lows of 14°C. While October is the year’s wettest month, rain levels are still not very high by northern hemisphere standards, and will usually fall in short showers. However, there is considerable less sun with only six per day on average. November sees a drop in the average high to 18°C and in the average low to 10°C: better for a walking holiday, though the sea is still quite warm at 18°C.
Winter, from December till February, is quite an unpredictable season. Temperatures are mild with an average high in the coldest month of January of 14°C, which has an average low of 6°C. Rain levels lessen slightly but become more frequent and the sky can be overcast. The season sees around five hours of sun per day. The changeable nature of weather in this season can mean frost on the ground for a few days with showers and a grey sky with the odd day of blazing sunshine which sends the temperatures climbing up near 20°C.
Spring, from March till May, sees the average high temperature climb from a mild 16°C to a pleasant 21°C, though night time temperatures remain cool, definitely requiring a few extra layers, and the sea does not really warm up enough to swim in till the end of the season. Rain remains unpredictable until March, but the grey sky recedes and the sun comes out for around nine hours a day by mid March.
Can Picafort’s warmth can be attributed to its position in
the Mediterranean, which also puts
