July Weather Averages

Sorted by popularity:

July is one of the warmest months to spend in Brittany, France. Temperatures during the evening may require a light coat for those who get cold easily, but during the day temperatures can reach a high of 21°C. Lows may drop to a still comfortable 14°C, with a daily average working out to 18°C. This is definitely summer weather, so it's time to make the most of it.

Even the sea water temperature has started to climb towards a more reasonable 18°C, meaning it is very similar to the temperatures of the outside air. Swimming along the Emerald Coast is best during the afternoon when the temperatures are at their highest. In other words, you will know it is the best time to swim when you are already feeling warm! The beaches are going to be a little more crowded whenever the sun is out, so plan to head down earlier in the day and find your spot without having to compromise or move around other people.

With 9 hours of sunshine a day, you should have no problem fitting in everything you need to do in daylight. Plus, you will have plenty of chances to top up on your tan! As ever, it's important to keep one eye on the weather forecast, as you never know when the heavens might open. There are around 12 days in the month on which it might rain, with a total of 38mm of water coming down across those days. Rain falls less in August while maintaining the same daily temperature, making this a more popular month for visits but by consequence, a busier one. Either way, bring a raincoat with you on your holiday, but don't expect to be using it every day. You might even get lucky and see a whole week without any rain!

If you want to stay in a building that exudes history, try Hotel Arvor. Located in the heart of old Dinan, it offers a classy décor matching the exterior, which was previously a Jacobin convent. There is a lounge bar and tea room here, and you can also book yourself in for a massage if you so wish.

July calls for time on the beach, so you might as well stay near it. How about a 19th century hotel which is just a short walk from the shore? Hotel Barriere Le Grand Hotel fits the bill, with a wonderful view of the Dinard marina. There are kids clubs available and you can also dine at their 333 Café or blue.B restaurant.

As a base to explore the town centre and coast, Ibis Roscoff Bord de Mer is well-placed. Here you will find a bar, sports facilities including a golf course, sailing, and bicycle hire, and free parking. There is also free Wi-Fi for all guests to use.

With the average sea temperature at 18°C, don't miss out on a chance to visit the beach. Cap-Coz, Fouesnant is a mile-long area of white sand which is perfect for a family outing. This is the kind of place French families come to enjoy the peace and quiet! There's not much to do around here, but enjoy the sand, sea and sun.

If you catch a ferry from Roscoff, meanwhile, you can come to the le de Batz, a small island with a beautiful white sand beach. Grève Blanche doesn't have much for you to buy or eat, but if you want sand, it has plenty. If you have the energy, walk around the perimeter of the island and enjoy exploring the beaches.

If you are looking for something to eat in Dinard, try Bistro Resto Oliver. Here you will find French food prepared with a fierce passion. There is also a real attention to detail here to make sure that every single plate looks fantastic, particularly where the desserts are concerned.

For those with families, try La Cour de Recre, where both adults and children will find something to suit them. The airy, wooden setting has a rustic feel that also gives an aura of freshness. You will find the meals exciting, particularly their huge burgers. Be sure to check out the daily specials board too.

The quaint setting of Au Bouchon Breton will make you feel right at home. It is close to the artistic and cultural heart of the town, with a simple menu setup. There are three entrees, four main courses, and three desserts for you to choose from, all at a set price.

July is a perfect month to enjoy Brittany's numerous cultural festivals. You have the Fesitval de Cornouaille located in Quimper, Vieilles Charrues Music Festival featuring international superstars in Carhaix, and the Fetes Maritimes de Brest for a good start. In some years there have been over ten different festivals spread throughout the resort region, including the Tombees de la Nuit, a music and theatre festival. This happens on different dates every year, so be sure to check ahead.

There's another one you might consider. The Astropolis Festival is a summer event that brings excitement to both tourists and locals alike. It is the oldest electronic music festival in France, and a platform for fans to enjoy new music, go to workshops, visit clubs and discover the latest trends. Don't waste the summer sun get out and enjoy these outdoor events!
