June sees temperatures soar as the summer season gets into full swing and things are hotting up - now is the perfect time to hit the beach or laze by the pool.
Daytime temperatures now reach a very warm high of 27°C (81°F) and only fall to 17°C (63°F) in the evenings.
With 13 hours of sunshine every day, you will definitely be spending a lot of time outside – and in the sea, especially as it’s currently an inviting 20°C.
Dates for the diary
Taking place either in May or June, Corpus Christi is religious festival, which is widely celebrated in Benalmadena, with locals decorating their balconies and the main streets of town adorned with carpets of fresh flowers and herbs. A procession also passes through the streets.
Things to do
Tivoli World is a very popular theme park in Costa del Sol and one of the busiest luna parks in southern Spain. The park features a wide variety of games and entertainment venues including theatres, roller coasters, magic shows and various others, making it ideal for families with children as well as young, fun-seeking tourists.
Diving Spain is a large and reputable five star PADI diving centre that offers affordable scuba diving lessons as well as a wide range of scuba and snorkelling diving trips across the span of Costa del Sol. The centre is one of the oldest diving organisations in southern Spain and has a spotless reputation for being professional and offer excellent quality of service.
The Teleferico Benalmadena is the iconic cable car that takes people from Benalmadena all the way up to Calamorro Mountain and is one of the major attractions in the city. The teleferico allows tourists to marvel at Benalmadena and the surrounding areas from a bird’s eye view and enjoy one of the most spectacular vistas in the whole Mediterranean for a very low ticket price.
Hit the beach
Sporting the finest golden-white sand, the La Perla Beach is a small, family friendly strip of sand in Benalmadena. There is a single restaurant and several convenient facilities that make La Perla great for families with young children. The beach has very mild surf and is relatively shallow, allowing even young swimmers to splash in the azure waters without worry.
The Torremuelle is a busy beach in which there is always something going on. Ideally located alongside a major road, this is a beach that hosts numerous parties in it beach bars and where many young people come to have fun all day (and night) long. There is one restaurant and plenty of free parking space here.
Located at the eastern side of Benalmadena, the Torrevijia Beach is a hotspot for local fishermen as well as amateurs who come here to practice their fishing skills. The waters off this beach are teeming with fish and at least half a dozen fishing trips have Torrevijia as their destination. The beach is also decent for swimming if you don’t mind the fishing boats.

Bright and cheerful, Carnaval is a Spanish / Mediterranean fish and meat restaurant that serves healthy Mediterranean food at great prices. The restaurant plays upbeat music and the staff makes your dining experience very enjoyable. Definitely a family friendly establishment, Carnaval is bound to be a hit with kids and adults alike.
Located in Benalmadena’s scenic port, the El Greco is a fantastic Greek restaurant that serves healthy and delicious Mediterranean food. The restaurant offers its visitors an amazing view over the local marina and the food certainly leaves nothing to be desired. Most dishes are prepared with fresh meat and fish, delicious Greek yogurt and – of course, healthy glugs of extra virgin olive oil.
Located alongside Cadiz Avenue and next to the beach, Ristorante Gisla is a local seafood eatery that is known for serving fish caught the very same day in the waters across from the restaurant. The food here is as fresh as it can be and the menu is full of surprises, even though it is not particularly extensive.
Terrace is a cosy bar/restaurant serving British specialties and lots of delicious drinks to its patrons. Most of the people coming here are Brits and the menu reflects that with most dishes heavily drawing inspiration from the traditional British cuisine while maintaining a distinctively Mediterranean character.

Classy and unpretentious, Neptuno is a popular piano bar located alongside via Mediterranean, the main road artery that connects Benalmadena with Malaga. The bar serves as a hub for tourists from all across Costa del Sol who like listening to live jazz piano over a few drinks.
